Birkdale Tower’s Ladies Day

As we were unable to go out for Ladies Day celebrations this year, Birkdale Tower Lodge decided to bring the races to the home with residents enjoying their very own virtual Ladies Day on Friday 9th April.

Our preparations began the night before as everyone picked out their outfits and reminisced about fashion trends through the years. Everyone was excited to don their finest attire and best hats!

The morning began with a trip to the in-house hair and beauty salon where residents got their hair styled, nails painted and called their loved ones for a catch-up. However, the residents were not the only ones dressed to the nines as the Birkdale Tower Lodge Team also brought their A-game!

Everybody came together for an afternoon of celebrations complete with an array of delicious canapés, fresh strawberries and a glass of bubbly in The Bunker Bar. Afterwards, everyone relaxed in the lounge whilst discussing the daily news and taking a moment to honour HRH Prince Philip. Past Grand National races were shown on the TV throughout the day as residents placed their bets in the free Birkdale Tower Lodge sweepstake.

One of our lovely ladies’ daughters, who owns Rose Tree Tea Rooms in Southport, very kindly dropped off a delicious cake for all to enjoy. Residents tucked in with a cuppa whilst watching one of their favourite shows, River Dance, on the TV.

The day brought up many cherished memories as residents discussed previous races and their favourite celebrations from years gone by with one another. Birkdale Tower Lodge looks forward to hosting more events like this in the future and someday being able to invite residents’ families and friends to join in with the celebrations.
